It allows such a fine level of color control that I am able to do the majority of my work within Capture One Pro and then I finish my work in Affinity Photo. I love the color editor tool and that I can do luminosity masking within this program.

Capture One doesn't ever seem to slow down when I'm adding additional layers for the kind of edits I make. So it becomes really painful, and as most people know Lightroom is slow when adding or manipulating multiple brushes. While I know that in Lightroom you can add brushes and range masks, they just give you these little dots to manipulate and there's no way to name or organize things. The fact that I can work in layers within a raw file editor is a game-changer. No matter what camera I’ve ever shot with from any brand, Capture One Pro has always delivered the finest image quality out of my raw files - especially when I’m working with the Fujifilm X-Trans files. Now, before I actually dig into this edit I’d like to mention three things that I love the most about Capture One Pro: Today I will be discussing how I use both Capture One Pro and Affinity Photo to produce the work that you see on my website, and will take you behind the scenes a little bit to show you my process while editing an image I photographed at the Egg Harbor Library shoot featured in the video linked here: Egg Harbor Library Re: Capture one pro 10 slow performance In reply to Tom-C Also if you search the Phase One Capture One forum, you will find posts on how they suggest to improve performance, including what is already mentioned & updating your graphics card drivers.

It’s often buggy, sluggish (no matter how maxed out my computer is), and never gives me the absolute image quality I know my cameras are capable of - and that I demand.Įnter Capture One Pro and Affinity Photo, two powerful programs that not only give Adobe a run for their money, but vastly outperform the offerings from Adobe on so many levels - in my professional opinion.

In this tutorial I show you my simple architectural photography workflow while editing an image in Capture One Pro and then doing the finish work in Affinity Photo - no Photoshop needed! Knowing how to edit your raw photos is an important step to delivering great photos to your clients.Īdobe Photoshop may be considered the industry standard and go-to software for many creatives, but I have always had a hate/love/ hate relationship with Photoshop and Lightroom over the years. I have no problem with C1Pro 10 on my system which is a 4 year old i7 Ivybridge with 16Gb of memory an ssd and amd 270x with 4Gb so not exactly cutting edge.Take your architectural photos to the next level by using the two most powerful editing programs available - Capture One Pro (v12) and Affinity Photo. And my computers are not that old or slow, so I'm sticking with older software that just works & take my time to test & before buying the hyped newer versions.

Not only does one have to pay to use Bloatware, but one then has to either pay more to upgrade hardware to run the bloatware or suffer the consequences of poor performance.

IMO, they should have features that one can choose to install or not.

It doesnt do it for every photo - just some. In the last two weeks Ive run into this strange problem where some images in capture one are blurry and extremely pixelated - as if Id taken the thumbnail and blown it up to 2048px size. These programs are just getting TOO BLOATED for me. Previews/images are a blurry mess and I cant figure out why. Dust spotting in v8 also slows the computer down for me & so I don't use it there either. I forget what other tools do the same, as I stopped testing C1 v10 a while ago as for my gear, I saw very little that I could not do with v8 & the output of files looked identical & the dollar exchange still made the upgrade not worth it for the small gain & the unusable tools vs. Layers in Capture One are also resource HOGS for me & again, I stopped using C1 layers. Eg the spot or dust tool makes the Capture One for me run extremely slow, so I simply no longer use it & do my dust retouching in Photoshop, which barely uses any resources & can also do FAR MORE retouching than Capture One.

Assuming that your computer already meets their minimum specs for CPU, Graphics, SSD & RAM? Updating my NVidia drivers helped me with v10.Īlso some process/tools REALLY slow down the program. Also if you search the Phase One Capture One forum, you will find posts on how they suggest to improve performance, including what is already mentioned & updating your graphics card drivers.
